We spent Christmas 2005 in a forest cabin in Keldy Forest just north of Pickering in North Yorkshire.
While the south east was suffering the turmoil of receiving a few snowflakes, we had 4 or 5 inches, with temperatures as low as -9° C, absolutely perfect.
