First to come in to feed are the corvids - the rooks, crows and ravens - and also starlings. When these have started feeding and showed that the coast is clear, the buzzards land and tuck in. Finally, the red kites start swooping down, as in this photo, snatching the meat from the ground, from the buzzards and from any other bird careless enough to let it known that they are enjoying a tasty morsel.
The kites are real pirates of the sky, even chasing birds in flight to make them drop their meat, which the kite will then catch in mid air.
This really is a wonderful sight.
