When ripe, the inside of the earth ball is full of spores which look like fine dust. Any movement or the wind blowing over the earthball will cause the spores to be ejected via the apical pore.
I wanted to capture this, so set up the camera with two flashguns and a black background. It took two rolls of film to get just this one shot.
